We're not very big fans of LA Fashion such as it is. There are the jeans that perpetually answer the question "how low can you go?". The tops whose decorations and cuts recall a slutty Christmas trees. And the brands that spend most their time, money and energy star-keting rather than making quality products.
But in the last year or two, we've been noticing LA stores that cast aside all the wanna be LA brands, keep the worthwhile ones, and bring together a smart collection of other brands from New York, Paris and other far away lands. South Willard, which we mentioned yesterday, is one such store. Satine, which we'll be talking about soon, is another. Creatures of Comfort is the latest.
Creatures of Comfort opened in the summer of 2005 in West Hollywood. More importantly to you, stylish Internet reader, they opened their online shop just last month. So what have they got that's good? What don't they have that's good is a more appropriate question.
LA is well represented via Grey Ant, Rachel Comey, one of our favorite New York labels, is everywhere and impossible-to-find-online labels like United Bamboo and Eley Kishimoto are present in spades. Here's a quick pictorial of a few (OK, like 10) of our favorites.
United Bamboo dress ($735).
Rachel Comey Cami ($300).
Maloles Shoes ($171).
Eley Kishimoto Bag ($245).
Emma Cook Skirt ($275).
