Marni Online

In this year of our Lord 2006, it's unbelievable how many multi-million dollar, in some cases multi-billion dollar, fashion companies have failed to figure out what to do with the internet. The classic example is Prada's website that has remained famously bare for 10 years now, as if worried they'll do the wrong thing they're afraid to do anything at all. How is it that a company that commissions Rem Koolhaas to build some of the most unique and amazing retail spaces ever can't figure out how to create a similarly unique website?

The others? They're better but not my much. Chanel at least has a store locator and pictures from their various collections. Louis Vuitton has that, plus some interesting behind the scene videos of the label's famous craftsmanship. But still, considering LVMH does 4+ billion dollars of business a quarter, we're not impressed.

But the tide may be turning. JC Report recently wrote about Marni's new website. The best effort yet we've seen from a high-end label brings a pleasant and attractive online shopping experience for an Italian label that's often hard to find in the US outside of New York and LA. The site is powered by luxury retailer YOOX , organizing the items in different "moods" and offering items that may be hard to find even at retailers that carry the label. Here's a look at some of the items the they have on offer right now.
