Third Street in Los Angeles is a rather unlikely place to find high-end boutiques. Under the shadow of the Beverly Center the street is still speckled with the odd mini-mall, fast food joint and derelict development but has long since become a destination for high style shopping and eating. For food, you'll want to visit neighborhood favorites Joan's on Third and Toast or fine dining hotspot AOC. For shopping, the two most talked and written about destinations are Satine and Milk which opened last October.
If Milk, both in stocklist and in structure of website, seems somewhat similar to Satine that's because it is. Ilaria Urbinati, the former buyer of Satine, is the current buyer of Milk. So both stores present an upscale update to the casual, colorful, free-flowing LA style. The look is more dresses and less denim, more flats and less flip-flops, and both stores do it rather well.
Between the two, Satine has more of that boho European flavor, with lots of muted, earthy colors and loose, flowing cuts.
They've also developed their own small line of clothing and accessories, with a few tops (below), some basic dresses and a classic shoe.
Milk is a little more urban, a little more hip.
For a long time, Le Train Bleu was the only place online to get Erotokritos, but no longer.
They even carry a few pieces of Erotokritos' men's line.
