We first found Obedient Sons on the racks of Groupe 16sur20 in New York many years ago (2004 if memory serves) and even then we liked their classic take on menswear. But while we saw Band of Outsiders, a label with a similar aesthetic and purpose (well-tailored men's shirts and other clothing) gain in popularity and expand its stockists, we hadn't heard much from Odedient Sons in the succeeding years. Now we know why. According to a July 2006 DNR article, the partnership with Groupe didn't work out and the company came close to bankruptcy. Now with new financial backing the label is determined to expand its line and stockists and guess what: it's been working. For Spring '07 they introduced "Sons by Obedient Sons", a line of T-shirts and hoodies. And after years of not hearing or thinking about the label we saw pieces show up at New Dandyism and Factory People. And now Aloha Rag has picked up the line in a big way. In our opinion, the attention is much deserved--a few years late but deserved none the less.
