Surface To Air

If you asked as what brand was doing our favorite T-shirts and hoodies right this instant (and you are asking us, aren't you?), our answer would undoubtably be Surface to Air. Light on logos and heavy on abstract or just plain strange imagery, the line is proof positive that you can create interesting T-shirts that don't rely on trite one-liners or day-glo colors.

The brand isn't really a brand at all but a loose of collective of artists and designers, working out of New York, Paris, Tokyo and Stockholm, that happen to create fashion and design under one label. Adidas for its Adicolor shoe promotion did an interview with the New York arm of the group, explaining what they're about and so on. It is available on YouTube.

Some of our favorites pieces from their latest work (including the above hoodie) come from the New York guys, a collection of mostly grayscale T-shirt and hoodie designs.

But Surface to Air Paris puts a together a mean collection as well. Theirs is a complete line including shirts, pants, shoes and jackets.

While some pieces of this line are available at various retailers, you'll have to visit their shop in Paris, or at least live in France so you can use their online shop.
