That Swedish menswear label Odeur still has no US stockist becomes more puzzling every season. What was basically a well-styled T-shirt line when we first covered them has become a complete menswear line, managing to maintain it's unique aesthetic each step of the way. But with an ever growing roster of Swedish and Japanese stockists, and with being picked up by the UK's Oki-Ni for fall, a US stockist is likely imminent. Meanwhile, thank God for online shopping and worldwide shipping.

Fall '09 collections are ready to be shipped to stores, if not there already, despite the Summer weather finally catching up with us here in New York. So we thought we'd write about one of our favorite Fall 2009 collections of the year, from designer Samantha Pleet.
Pleet's latest collection is all about fun and friends. So it is a logical step to present the garments with friends in tow, which is just what Pleet did. Known for her eclectic presentations, thinking outside the runway is not an unusual thing for Pleet. She presented her Fall 2009 Samantha Pleet and Patrick Pleet lines at the Tribecca Grand last February with a film and a party to go with it. Her friends and models were there to join in the fun, wearing some of the collection's pieces. A genius idea, since then you can see the clothes up close and the way they are meant to be: worn and in motion. That is also the brilliance of the film presentations. How else can you capture the whimsy of the Winged Dress if not in motion, for example?

The fun and friends theme recurred throughout the film, with the models dancing, eating and twirling around. They all look right at home in all of the immensely wearable pieces, which are casual enough for everyday yet polished enough to be dressed up for a party. The collection included some fabulous rompers, for which Pleet is famous for, along with versatile dresses in dark neutral shades (mostly versatile black) with whimsical details like ruffles.
Below, some favorites the Fall 2009 lookbook.
Complex Geometries' Fall 2009 is now on up on their site. This is the Canadian label's best video lookbook yet.
German based Spanish duo Poti Poti has come a long way since its first quirky collection of graphic heavy clothing. While staying true to their graphic design roots, the Fall 2009 collections is moody in a way there previous collections simply weren't.
There was no lack of drapey silk at Rachel Comey, often infused with her signature fanciful prints, this season little men running around with umbrellas and monkeys hanging from vines. Other less novel but equally interesting prints included an oversized cheetah print that the designer nicknamed "cheater's", elaborate rose-studded floral prints, and a geometric navy and cream.
To offset the delicate femininity of the silk, the looks were heavily layered, often with boxy jackets, and lots of knits. Some pieces, like the "twofer" cardigan, which looks like two cardigans layered on top of each other, was actually one piece, a fool-proof way to get the layered look down.
The hems were quite long, and with the tights and fur headband from the first look, the collection seemed influenced by the Hassidic Jews of Brooklyn, albeit with a heavy hipster and Eastern European influence. Head pieces were also heavily incorporated into the looks, sometimes with knit scarves heavily-wrapped around the head or dainty silk chignon covers.
Our favorite part was the abundance of tassels, hanging from hems, adorning blouses, skirts, knit scarves and even shoes. The shoes, of course, were not a disappointment. The 'cheaters' print calfskin booties were show-stoppers and the wedge wallabees and calfskin booties are sure to complete all your outfits for next fall and winter.
