Today we add two shops to the guide. One is in LA and the other is in San Diego. And they don't sell any of the same items really. But they both do a fantastic job of blending art and commerce.

For its part, Family in LA is stuffed with art books, DVDs, comic books, zines, prints and other creative output. The art books alone are worth the visit, as they represent some of the most interesting work being done by up and coming artists around the world.

Igloo (coming to us by way of suggestion) explores under the radar art, particularly that of California surf and skate culture. Prints, photo books, painted decks, T-shirts, even buttons are wonderfully creative in a completely unpretentious sort of way.

Both shops offer online shopping for a limited number of items.

• New York's Mick Margo will be having a huge sale from March 8th to March 10th with 50-70% off all Fall/Winter selections. Expect items from Rachel Comey, Sunshine & Shadow, Les Prairies de Paris, Isabel Marant, Lutz and Patmos, VPL, Sissirossi and Alexander Wang.
• This Thursday is the opening reception for a month long exhibition of the Nieves library at Ooga Booga. The show will feature the complete collection from 2001 forward of the Swiss publisher of art books and zines. If you're in LA, you'll definitely not want to miss this.
• From Friday March 7th to Sunday March 9th, LA's Satine and Milk will be teaming up for a huge sale. Visit 8207A W. 3rd Street from 11am to 7pm for what promises to be a fun, hectic time.

If you're in the LA area on February 2nd, you might want to check out the opening of Alex + Chloe at New High (M)art. Brooklyn jewelry designer Alex + Chloe is the third designer in residence at the Chinatown concept shop (following Grey Ant and Brian Lichtenberg) and will be in the space until March 13th.
