Avalon, a shoot by photographers Philippe and César Yard and stylist Jodie Barnes, looks at fashion as material science and shows how talented designers can make beautiful fashion of unlikely raw materials. It's our favorite spread from the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of 032c and here we present a couple of the photographs.
Clothes-pins, wood
Sacking, felt, paper, cork
(Editors note: Over the next several days, we will be featuring a few choice excerpts from the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of 032c.)
From the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of 032c, a most interesting new retail space:
To expand their nine year old retail space in Tokyo's Aoyama district, Los Angeles based jewelry designer Chrome Hearts simply bought and demolished the building next door, erecting a basketball court in its stead. The store expansion is actually a basement only expansion with massive access stairs built in concrete. Details in the latest issure of 032c

032c looks at 20 years of Martin Margiela via, what else, magazine covers and cut outs.

Our favorite photograph from the latest issue of i-D: a stunning spring dress from Jil Sander.
The fall 2007 issue of 032c magazine was released a little while ago. Here are some pictures from the issue.
A few months late but we figured if you hadn't seen it, you should. In the Spring/Summer 2007 issue of Another Magazine (which we just subscribed to and received just last week) they paired designers with artists and commissioned them to do a dress together. The results were stunning. Here are few of our favorites.
Martin Margiela and Gotscho
Christopher Bailey and Annie Morris (those are clothespins by the way)
Stella McCartney and Jeff Koons
Issey Miyake by Naoki Takizawa and Yoshitomo Nara
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Meredyth Sparks
If you want to see more you should still be able to find the issue on newstands.
Finally a logo print we can get behind. For his Fall 2007 women's collection, Yohji Yamamato pokes fun at Louis Vuitton by combining his imprint with Japanese kamon characters.
From the August issue of Dazed and Confused.
