Blends

The uninitiated will feel uncomfortable walking into Blends. The OC location stores its kicks in glass-door fridges. The San Diego spot is an all-white gallery, with a ledge for shoe display and a raised platform to walk on while checking out the shoes. Don't be afraid. No doubt, the shoes are cool--with unique styles from well-known brands and some crazy limited edition / small run designs. But for all the high-concept presentation, they are reasonably priced (many under $100). And the staff, well they let you gawk at the shoes for as long as you like (they seem rather used to it). The only thing to fear is spending another day with your boring, mass-produced sneakers.
