Giant Robot
If Giant Robot the magazine began as an ode to Asian pop culture, then Giant Robot the store is now a mecca for the same. Alongside copies of the latest issue of GR you'll find all sorts of pop-y Asian items (and some American stuff that is just cool enough to be sold in Japan). Comic and design books, funky accessories, stickers and stationary, cooky toys and figurines and strange plush animals: chances are if you haven't been to Tokyo recently you probably haven't seen this stuff before. Did we mention the T-shirts? Dozens upon dozens of cool designs have been assembled, featuring everything from obscure anime characters to headshots of little known Beat writers. The San Francisco location also features cool, funky (and of course pop-y) art from Bay Area artists in its attached gallery space.
