Sonrisa Furniture
Stainless steel appliances may be all the rage now but let us not forget steel's more humble beginnings. File cabinets, office desks, card catalogs and lockers are how steel first entered our home and work lives. Sonrisa pays tribute to this machine-age past by collecting a variety of vintage steel furniture salvaged from schools, libraries and offices. Ever wanted a column of bowling lockers? A library book cart? What about a map drawer? These items may have been utilitarian and boring in their time, but restored and rethought (e.g. map-drawer-cum-coffee-table) they're actually quite unique and beautiful. Complementing the vintage pieces, the store also produces it's own steel furniture and sells beautiful steel accessories such as handmade scissors. Wood and plastic be damned, we think it's high time for a full-on steel revival. In a world where workers go berserk and start shooting up the place wouldn't you be happy to have a steel desk to work on (read: hide behind)?
