The Reed Space
At The Reed Space, fashion, art and design are fast friends. The shop/art gallery also happens to be the retail project of design house Staple Design. Sharp graphic T-shirts, sweaters and hoodies are in abundance, in a row running the length of the store, complete with signs detailing the designers' background. The shirts represent up-and-coming designers around the world and also include Staple Design's own line. The opposite wall could display cool design books and magazines, caps and select accessories, not to mention dozens of small, suspended chairs. Retailing 101: Want to make something look cool? Place it on a small yellow chair suspended on the wall. Near the back is a small collection of sneakers. The Reed Space regularly does collaborations with major sneaker companies, producing ultra-exclusive sneakers that have people lining up around the block. Retailing 102: Want to nearly cause a riot? Design a hot shoe and only make a couple dozen pairs available.
