If you know anything about San Francisco, it's that a design store where everyone wears black turtlenecks will be a miserable failure. The owners of Zinc Details appreciate the wear flowers in you hair attitude of San Francisco. All you have to do is look in on the colorful items at Zinc Details to understand that this is not your ordinary design store. It's full of items that you don't need but must own--glass teapots, vintage canisters, colorful pillows, candles in a million colors and a few iconic pieces of furniture that won't intimidate you with their pedigree. The staff is great. The website is useable. And the stores have special events and shows that will make you smile instead of intimidating you with obscure design concepts known only by New Yorkers, the actual "designer" and his/her mother. This is design by San Francisco for San Francisco. The original Zinc Details location on 1905 Fillmore now focuses on accessories and tableware while the nearby 2410 California location serves as the furniture showroom.
